Who is Anne Goodman?
Anne Goodman
At the start of my career, I set out with one admittedly naïve but heartfelt goal: to change the world for good. I pursued that through legislative work on Capitol Hill and decades of service to causes I deeply believe in. I have also developed keen insight into a plethora of nonprofit operations through my leadership at the Saint Luke’s Foundation. Over time, I’ve come to a clear and lasting conclusion: the greatest impact I can make is by helping good people and vital missions reach their full potential.
I’ve spent more than 30 years in the nonprofit sector, including 15 years as CEO of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. During that time, I led two mergers, a successful capital campaign, and a sustained period of extraordinary growth. I later served as CEO of the $220M Saint Luke’s Foundation, where I oversaw the development and implementation of a health equity strategy. That role gave me a bird’s-eye view of both the excellence and the challenges nonprofits face every day.
While funding is essential, I’ve learned that sustainability, strong leadership, and operational excellence are what truly drive long-term success.
In April 2020, I launched AG Nonprofit Advisors to help organizations assess and build capacity, navigate transitions, find the right leader and build on those leaders’ strengths through coaching. I’ve walked many miles in the shoes of nonprofit leaders - and I bring that lived experience to every engagement.
Alongside my professional journey, I hold a master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration from the University of Chicago and have been recognized for achievements in fundraising, financial management, grantmaking, strategic planning, and leadership. I’ve also served on numerous nonprofit boards, giving me a well-rounded perspective on governance and strategic engagement. But it’s the work itself, and the people behind it, that continue to inspire me.
“Anne has an uncommon ability to develop both high-level strategy and the work plans to bring these plans to life. She is an incredible leader and collaborator for a nonprofit looking to strengthen itself.”
— Kristin Warzocha, President & CEO, The Greater Cleveland Food Bank
“Anne is one of those rare nonprofit leaders who truly understands the importance and value of program outcomes. Combine that with her extensive experience cultivating and strengthening nonprofit agencies, and you have an exceptionally talented advisor for any organization looking to go to the next level.”
